Socal-Baja Lifeguard Exchange | Projects In Mexico

Dates: June – July 2012
Project Description: ISLA partnered with the Imperial Beach Lifeguard Association and the Tijuana Fire Department to share lifesaving skills and information, while volunteer lifeguarding in various areas of Baja.
Bahia Asuncion | Projects in Mexico

Dates: October 1- October 7, 2012
Project Description: Volunteer lifeguards traveled down the Baja peninsula to offer workshops in Basic Ocean Rescue and to promote ocean safety and awareness.
Cabarete/Bayahibe | Dominican Republic (DR)
Dates: November 16-25, 2012
Project Description: The ISLA instructor teams held two Basic Open Water Lifeguard Training Courses. This trip is part of the third stage of the ISLA DR Initiative, which started as an effort to reduce injuries and death from drowning and to establish a lifeguard agency in the DR
Semana Santa Trips (Easter 2013)

Locations: Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic
Dates:Multiple Dates are available for each trip: Nicaragua: 3/20-4/4 DR: 3/31-3/31
Project Details: Nicaragua: ISLA volunteers will be teaching the Open Water Rescue Course and patroling the beaches with the Nicaraguan Red Cross/Red Crescent volunteer lifeguards. DR: ISLA volunteers will be offering a Junior Lifeguard Camp and patroling the beaches with the DR lifeguards.
Costa Rica

Dates: 5/8/13-5/15/13
Project Details: ISLA volunteers will be scouting in Costa Rica to see what type of training, resources, equipment the Costa Rican guards need. While their down there the volunteers will be noting the needs, watching the operations, sharing their knowledge, and donating equipment.
