Project South China Seas:
Starting in 2016, ISLA begin discussing the plans for providing a basic open water training course for the surf beaches of Shen Zhen, just outside of Hong Kong, China. The talks were facilitated by Dr. John Yang, President of the Shen Zhen Surfing Association who provided insight to the rapidly growing surf scene powered by an increase in tourism in the area and the increasingly critical need for a developed lifesaving program.
ISLA and the Shen Zhen Surfing Association are currently planning to train 100 lifesavers in the open water environment at the surf beaches of Shenzhen in March 2018. ISLA volunteers from around the globe will help run the course before taking off the explore some of the rich cultural sites of the area.
