Project Aegean Sea:
In 2013, ISLA met with the directors and founders (the most amazing husband and wife duo ever) of Lifeguard Hellas, and lifeguard training facility in Athens Greece. Since then, ISLA’s relationship with this small school has blossomed in the most unlikely of ways.
For the first couple years, ISLA and Lifeguard Hellas set out to hold annual lifeguard exchanges, training days, and always made a point to bring international volunteers through the doors of Lifeguard Hellas at least every other summer. But starting in late 2015, ISLA volunteers were working with Lifeguard Hellas during the Syrian Refugee Crisis.
Since then our relationship is evolving once again, as ISLA plans to conduct a basic open water training course with Lifeguard Hellas. The objective will be to bring international lifeguards from around the world, and donate needed supplies to the Lifeguard Hellas group.
ISLA considers the Lifeguard Hellas group one of our oldest and closest friends. this is a great opportunity to experience Greek culture at its finest and save lives!

Get ready for another incredible project in the country of Greece!
Get ready to experience one of the most incredible countries on Earth in the best way possible: with ISLA. Since 2013 we have been sending teams to this enchanting place and working alongside the Greeks to promote water safety. When we are not working? We are right there alongside the Greeks in learning their traditional dances, or enjoying an all you can eat dinner of fresh souvlaki and greek hospitality.
Though Greece isn’t know for its big surf, Greece is famous for its water-centered events, festivals, and activities along its thousands of pristine beaches… making lifeguarding and teaching water safety an important part of their culture.
This year, ISLA will be working with the Lifeguard Hellas team to provide a three-day basic open water course for aspiring lifesavers in the region and the country. After the project, members of the team will have plenty to do and explore as we see more of the region and enjoy it with our new greek friends and volunteers from around the globe.
This is a great opportunity to visit a new place, meet incredible new friends, and share special skills that will help protect lives!
