In will conduct its first operation in Mauritius, expanding its global mission to support professional lifesaving development in island nations with high coastal tourism and complex ocean environments.
This inaugural operation will focus on working alongside a local water safety and lifesaving organization, delivering hands-on training, sharing international best practices, and supporting the development of sustainable lifesaving programs tailored to Mauritius’ unique coastal conditions.
As ISLA’s first deployment to Mauritius, this operation represents an important step in building long-term partnerships, strengthening local capacity, and promoting professional standards that help reduce drownings and improve beach safety for both residents and visitors.
ISLA Operation Mauritius offers volunteers the opportunity to be part of a foundational mission—helping establish collaborative relationships and contribute to the growth of lifesaving services in a new region of need.

Be part of ISLA’s first-ever operation in Mauritius and help lay the foundation for lifesaving development in a new island nation.
Mauritius’ world-renowned beaches, reef systems, and tourism-driven coastline present unique water safety challenges. ISLA volunteers will work alongside a local water safety organization, delivering hands-on training, sharing international best practices, and supporting the growth of sustainable lifesaving programs.
As a first-time operation, Mauritius offers volunteers a rare opportunity to help establish meaningful partnerships and contribute to long-term capacity building—while learning from local responders and coastal professionals.
Outside the operation, volunteers will enjoy Mauritius’ diverse culture, stunning landscapes, and vibrant marine environment, making this a truly unforgettable ISLA experience.

Language Requirement
*There is no language requirement for this project, although lifeguards who are bilingual in French and have training experience will be given priority in the application process.
What else is included?
Transportation: we work with our hosts, close relationships and sponsors, etc. to get this covered. Usually for the entire trip from airport to airport
Food: We work with our host, sponsorship, and friends to cover food during the work portions of ths trip. usually about half of the meals are covered for the whole trip
Housing: We work with sponsord, our hosts, etc. to get this sponsored during the work portions of the trip.
Experience: ISLA trips are generally cheaper than typical Travel, and allow you to make lifeling friends while making a difference. you ALSO gain professional knowledge of others while sharing your own skills.
